FOOTDISTRICT is 10 years old and we want to celebrate it with our community the way it characterizes us: going big and in style. In order to do so, we have planned a series of events and drops to celebrate this anniversary with our community.
As part of these celebrations, on November 16 the FOOTDISTRICT community joined adidas Originals in The MAD Buzzer, a unique event in Madrid in which the most representative elements of Street basketball were the protagonists.
The Green Patio, flooded with street culture
As the location of The MAD Buzzer, we chose the Green Patio, in the heart of Madrid, a space divided between several floors that allowed the event to enjoy numerous shows simultaneously, and enabled the most exclusive members to have their own VIP floor.
Its industrial style transported us to the New York street courts of the 1960s, a time when the concept of hood and street games was born. An inspiring atmosphere that invited all participants to remember the importance of urban culture and its influence on the most current music and art.
A tribute to the impact that basketball has had on street culture, where we found a fusion of sport, music, art and above all, the most iconic silhouettes of adidas in order to achieve an unforgettable night for our community.
An Award-Winning Tribute to Streetball
We already discussed the historical relationship between basketball and adidas, a world wide icon. As it could not be otherwise, to honor this legacy we wanted to celebrate it together with our community. Thus, we planned The MAD Buzzer, an event whose main protagonist was a 3X3 basketball tournament where eight teams fought for the coveted prizes: checks with a value of up to €1000.
To prepare for the occasion, we had the opportunity to meet one of the icons of basketball in our country: Sergio Rodríguez, el Chacho, point guard of Real Madrid and World Champion with the Spanish National Team, in his natural environment: the court.
A tournament in which 8 teams participated, whose players gave their all on the court, with spectacular plays in an environment where sportsmanship prevailed and of course, where the most iconic adidas silhouettes were worn The commentator of the tournament was Pedro Bonofiglio, Real Madrid Basketball speaker, and a legend. This reference of Spanish basketball was in charge of announcing the winners of the tournament, the TITANS, as well as revealing the silver and bronze medals (with their corresponding prizes) to Elite3x3 and FootAnshoes, respectively. And to accompany the tournament, we enjoyed the groundbreaking music style of DJ Fénix, responsible for bringing even more hype to the event.

In a night that continued to grow in intensity, we were able to enjoy a freestyle exhibition by Mnak, Tirpa, Blon and Mr. Ego between matches, who were also joined by Bekaesh as a master of ceremonies. The artists were responsible for putting rhythm and rhymes to this sports afternoon, creating an environment that showed the close connection between basketball and our greatest passion: streetculture.
To top off this tribute tournament, the court was crowned by a board created by artist and illustrator Sabek exclusively for the occasion. A piece that, once again, had the hood as its main inspiration, and that could be fully appreciated by those lucky members of the VIP zone from the top floor where they enjoyed the tournament.
Finishing in style: an immortalized afterparty
We closed the night of exhibitions with an after-party with drinks and the best live music by DJ Jibril. Among other surprises, this historic celebration was immortalized in a Photocall that simulated a basketball locker room after a match, including the iconic lockers and basketball material scattered the same way the champions would have left it. In this photocall we were met by influencers such as @Martina_hache, @anaju.wav, Marina Reche, @toniemcee, @pincesonga or @bycalitos_official, among many others, all accompanied, of course, by the best adidas outfits.
However, the night did not end there. As the culmination of an unforgettable event, we had the presence of a historical international figure: DJ Playero. The Puerto Rican artist, one of the fathers of the reggaeton and responsible for spreading this new and groundbreaking genre as early as 1992, ended the evening giving us the freshest reggaeton. A unique celebration where each of the guests felt in a totally immersive Street atmosphere.
