New Balance is on its best momentum. The N is everywhere, with its top-notch quality and has become a favorite one across generations. The Made in USA range is the highest standard and part of the values of the brand.
Today, we will revisit the origins of the brand, in a unique editorial created alongside New Balance. Topics? Chickens, innovation, technology and generations.
Let there be chicken, and there was balance

The Second Industrial Revolution was a period in the history of the world. It was a time when technology developed very quickly and a lot of new things were done. But it was also the start of globalisation, due to massive migration. And one of those migrants plays the main role in this history, William J. Riley.
When he got to the United States, this young salesman wanted to change the lives of the American working class. He wanted to improve their lives. Inspiration came as it usually comes: a bit of scientific method (observation) and a bit of luck.
William designed his flexible arch insert while observing his backyard chickens and how their threw claws could adapt to any surface without compromising balance. And, of course, the rest is history. This, and no other, is the origin of the New Balance Arch Support Company.

A favorite across generations
Since then, New Balance has evolved from a medical, orthopedics, company to one of the most innovative footwear and fashion brands. And one of the most favorite ones, because of the details.
The easy-to-recognise N was first introduced back in 1976 on the New Balance 320, that year’s best trainer by Runners’ World. A silhouette that reflects one of the company’s mottos, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

This makes New Balance an all-time favorite brand for all generations, an icon that connects with each and every generation and creates timeless pieces.
With all these ideas in mind, we have created a unique editorial together with New Balance. Since the beginning of the 20th century, New Balance has changed a lot, but still remains the same.
