We randomly selected some of the ASICS GEL-LYTE III OG Atmos x Sean Wotherspoon raffle’s participants, regardless of whether (or not) they got lucky winning the raffle, to provide them with a very special gift in relation to the sneakers’ concept.
The lucky ones will receive a kokedama, an organic pot created through an ancestral Japanese gardening technique. These “moss balls” follow the sustainability and recycling principles present throughout the iconic imagery of Sean Wotherspoon. Each kokedama represents a bond with atmos’ origins and the presentation of the model in Tokyo, where environmentalism played a major role.
An ancestral art
This original decorative element brings multiple benefits. They’re very easy to care and maintain, carrying a special aesthetical value and ecological coherence, since we cannot forget they’re a living pot. They also help to purify the air, reduce stress, generate a beneficial aura for the skin by moisturizing the air, provide harmony and awaken environmental consciousness, among other favorable factors.
It is an art that emerged more than 500 years ago. There are some theories that even suggest that its origins date back to the VII century before Christ in China. They also say that direct precedents of the kokedamas are the bonsai trees. They are one of Feng Shui’s favorite decoration, because they gather the five elements by themselves. Earth in the substrate, wood in the stem, metal in their rounded form, the water that they require and fire in some of these plants’ colors.
Caring for your kokedama
The kokedamas have been made in the Kayto Natural Design atelier. We opted for two different plants, which will be shipped arbitrarily: the parlor palm and the peace lily. Both are indoor plants, you should avoid direct exposure to sunlight water them regularly. The shipping of these green pets includes a sheet with a care guide, watering methods and benefits. But don’t worry. They are highly “communicative” plants that will indicate you when they need of water or light.
