After some hard deliberations, Foot District has come together with Vijz to choose the finalist who will be the winner of Foot District Atelier – 1st Edition. In the next few weeks, @vijzbespokes will turn this design into a reality. It’s been very hard to pick only one winner. There are real talents among our community and we are truly amazed by all your designs.
The votes from the audience determined the 30 finalists, among which there’s only one winner. We wouldn’t like to reveal the lucky one without first giving a special mention to all the 30 proposals that have contested this prize. Not to mention the impressive number of more than 200 extraordinary participations we received.
We wish we could make all of your customs true!
And the winner is…
Matteo Burzio aka @kamel_burz
Congratulations!

This Gel Lyte 3 is inspired by the texture and colors of the New York City sewer manholes. I was intrigued by how the materials are changing during time and under the exposure to atmospheric agents.
The grey wolf suede and the brown leather are symbolizing the concrete floor and the steel of the manholes, the rust is represented by the orange leather, the blue emerald suede and the jade blue leather are portraying the oxidation.
On the midsole I added a layer of spray painted spreckle to give the illusion of the rust affecting the surfaces. The eyelets are custom made from oxidized copper.
The Foot District logo appears in a custom embroidered patch stitched on the heel part, this patch is directly inspired by the pattern of the NYC manholes, the geometric design is slightly modified to fit the F logo. The base color is grey wolf and the F logo stands out in orange, it’s very visible thanks to the strong color contrast.
On the toe there is a custom made window inspired by the geometric pattern of the manholes.
We would like to thank you all for the great effort put into the participations. We’re very proud to have such an amazing community, full of creative people willing to reinvent and keep creating. At Foot District we will keep on working to offer new experiences and opportunities like this one.⠀
