In April of this year, we decided at Foot District to get something positive out of the confinement and make the best out of it to boost our community’s most creative side. That’s how Foot District Atelier was created, a workshop + contest that provided you with the possibility of becoming a real sneakers designer. Now, #FDAtelier is in its final stage: the winning design has already become true and the winner just received their precious creation.
Here’s a peek into #FDAtelier and the final result.

After firing this kick-starter, Foot District Atelier was one of the most commented topics on social media and on sneakerheards forums. Multiple candidates from all over the globe stepped up and participated in a contest that promised to make their greatest desire become true: owning the sneakers of their dreams in their wardrobe.

After a previous virtual workshop led by the professional customizer Sam van Ijzendoorn aka VIJZ (@vijzbespokes), the participants were able to create their own piece from a wide range of patterns available on our webpage. The design was completely free and could be drawn either by hand or with the computer, allowing everyone to participate in the contest. The votes from our community and the FD team and Vijz determined the wining proposal. The prize? To make it real!

The winning design: the Asics Gel-Lyte III of Matteo Burzio
Our candidates made it really hard for us to decide, but the winner was finally Matteo Burzio (@kamel_burz). For the past months, Vijz has been working to create Matteo’s design, a pair of Asics Gel-Lyte III inspired by New York’s sewers. Now, these Asics are finally real and safe with their designer.

But this nothing but a new beginning. At Foot District we keep working on creating new initiatives that involve our community and deliver the opportunity to invent, create and play.

What will come next?

None of #FDAtelier’s customs are part of a collaboration between Foot District and Asics.
