For the past month, the title of ‘Sneaker of the Week’ has been constantly changing hands between the Jumpman and the Swoosh – and with releases like the OG Air Max Tailwind IV ‘Volt’ and Travis Scott’s long-awaited Air Jordan 1 ‘Cactus Jack’ collab hitting stores lately, it’s not hard to see why. However, at long last, the cycle has finally been broken and Team Trefoil has reclaimed the throne! This week, adidas has delivered the newest addition to its rapidly growing 4D family – the ZX4000 4D ‘Black Onix’ – and it might just be the brand’s best 4D sneaker yet.

adidas ZX4000 4D
The ZX4000 4D joined the Three Stripes roster earlier this year in a ‘Cloud White’ make-up. Stepping away from the streamlined simplicity of early 4D entries – and with an injection of influence from the brand’s long-running, technical-focused ZX series – it introduced a welcome dose of complexity to perfectly complement the eye-popping 4D sole unit.
Building upon the basic foot-hugging Primeknit construction of other 4D models, the ZX4000 4D adds an assortment of suede overlays for structural integrity, enhanced durability and, most importantly, just the right amount of aesthetic accentuation. The new panelling provides textural and tonal variation that truly shines in this infinitely easy-to-wear ‘Onix Black’ colourway. Panels of light and dark grey suede combine atop a base of pure black Primeknit, which is finished off with black-on-black striping and coloured tongues for pop.
If you are yet to add a pair of 4D sneakers to your rotation, then look no further: this one is an absolute must! The adidas ZX4000 4D ‘Black Onix’ goes on sale Saturday, May 25. Pairs release through the Foot District online store at the stroke of midnight CEST, with additional allocations releasing in store, in Barcelona and Madrid, at 11am CEST. Be quick though, because these won’t last long!
