The latest Cactus Jack collab has been a long time coming. We’ve been seeing sneak peeks for months now and the man himself has been stunting them on the regular just to tease us all the more. Sure, there have been a sprinkling of surprise drops here and there, but unless you had some serious luck on your side – or at least some serious cash to burn – then chances are high you don’t have these in your collection.
Unlike some of the other Travis Scott releases we’ve seen over recent years, such as his 3M-laced Air Force 1s and bright blue Air Jordan IVs, these new Jays are a rather sedate affair, with two big exceptions: those massive backwards Swooshes! These adorn the lateral sides, but aren’t the only exclusive details. The Cactus Jack logo comes debossed into the heels for that extra special co-sign.
Curiously, for such a new-gen collab, this release actually packs a significant connection to the past. The colour combination of brown, white and black – with sly hits of red branding – seems to be a sly nod to Nike’s classic ‘Escape’ pack from the mid 2000s, and is actually a perfect replication of the ‘White/Black-Bison’ Air Force 1s that released exclusively at JD Sports all the way back in 2003, right down to the choice of materials. Irrespective of where the inspiration for the colourway came from, we can be sure it was from at least one of these OG sources.
So, whether you’re a Travis Scott fanatic, diehard Jordan head or Force fiend from way back, it’s safe to say you need these in your collection. Sadly, though, this is one of the most limited releases of the year and there aren’t enough pairs for everybody to get their fill.
