What’s this? A Tailwind for sneaker of the week, once again? No, you’re not experiencing déjà vu! This week has been full of must-have releases, from Jerry Lorenzo’s latest wave of Fear of God x Nike collaborations to new Yeezy Boost 700s, but one sneaker truly stood out above the rest – literally!, the Nike Air Max Tailwind IV ‘Volt’.

Nike Air Max Tailwind IV ‘Volt’ wins this week
Much to the delight of big bubble enthusiasts the world over, Nike recently resurrected the Air Max Tailwind IV in honour of the model’s 20th anniversary. The Swoosh raised the bar high right out the gate, by relaunching the retro runner in collaboration with streetwear royalty Supreme, but Nike had an even better treat in store for OG Air heads – the return of the original neon-spiced ‘Volt’ colourway!
The Air Max Tailwind IV is a hefty beast compared to the very first Tailiwind from 1978. Showcasing 20 years of Air innovation, ‘99’s Tailwind release featured multiple portholes of Visible Air at the front and rear, highlighted on this release in zesty ‘Volt’. The sole unit is a tasty treat – and feels extra sweet under feet – but it is the side wall styling that really steals the show on this cult classic runner. Like its contemporary, the Air Max Plus, the Air Max Tailwind IV features a ribbed upper, highlighted to the extreme on this rendition in its namesake ‘Volt’.
This shoe is an exceptional example of late-90s Nike design from, what is arguably, the golden age of runners. It is a perfect fusion of style and comfort, and this ‘Volt’ colourway is guaranteed to make your kicks stand out in a crowd.
The Air Max Tailwind IV in ‘Volt’ is available at Foot District right now, both in store and in our Nike online store. If this ‘Volt’ offering isn’t to your tastes then don’t fret: Nike have plenty more colourways on the way. Stay tuned!
