Salomon has updated the design and functionality of one of its classics with the ACS Pro, a modern model that evokes the style of the early two thousand years.
Salomon ACS Pro, the origin
When Christian Tresser joined Salomon, he already had a background in running and football. There, he had one goal in mind: to bring speed to the mountains. In the early 2000s, a new trend emerged: adventure raids, which completely altered the perception of the outdoors. Shoes had to be multifunctional while also weighing as little as possible. The image incorporated elements of outdoor and asphalt runners, creating a distinct look that quickly became popular on the streets.

Salomon ACS Pro and Ground Control System
A paradigm shift to which Salomon quickly adjusted. Christian Tresser was responsible for bringing his speed experience to the mountains. The Salomon GCS Pro, a shoe that debuted the Ground Control System technology developed with his then-partner adidas, was the end result. It had advanced cushioning that adapted to each stride, as well as excellent breathability and a solid grip from the Contagrip outsole.
But, aside from its performance context, the Salomon GCS Pro stood out for its radical design, which was the result of Tresser’s work. He used classic Salomon color schemes, designed a rib-inspired midfoot box for breathability, and created metal eyelets in the shape of a motorcycle gas tank, a direct reference to Tresser’s personal history (his entry into footwear design came while working in his father’s motorcycle workshop).

From GCS to ACS
Salomon sneakers have had a direct relationship with urban environments since the late 1990s, when many users wanted to take advantage of the comfort of SensiFit technology or Contagrip grip in different contexts.
In the revival of some of Salomon’s classic models, the ACS Pro takes a special place, a reinterpretation of the GCS with aggressive lines, mesh fabric, molded TPU cage and a retro look. The focus is now on the Agile Chassis System, a blend of three structures, AC Skeleton, AC Muscle 2 and AC Tendon that benefit footstrike control, cushioning and energy return.
They recapture Salomon’s history with a focus on design, functionality and aesthetics, bringing credibility to their shoes.
