The 80s are a milestone when it comes to sneakerhead culture, with a special mention to basketball (and streetball too). Brands like PUMA were there and the iconic Slipstream was part of the end of that decade.

Introduced in 1987, the PUMA Slipstream had a difficult mission: be the iteration of the Sky LX, one of the most popular shoes on the courts in the 80s, both in the NBA and on the streets.
Originally launched as a hi-top version, it featured an EVA midsole combined with the German brand’s Anti Shock system. The perfect blend of performance and comfort.

ROOTS AND REINVENTION
For 2022, the Slipstream is updated on some aesthetic details, but with those basketball roots present. With a cleaner line, the biggest visual difference is found on the side of the shoe.

PUMA’s formstrip receives a new overlay panel that adds a pop of colour, while the collar has been redesigned with the comfort of a shoe meant to be on your feet all day long in mind.
INTO SPACE, AND BEYOND
To celebrate this reinvention, we at FOOTDISTRICT have created an editorial that ties in with the German brand’s Welcome Unbored campaign, in which ambassadors such as Neymar Jr, LaMelo Ballo and Danna Paola set off to explore space.

A trainer that is a real journey from the past to the future.
