Rhuigi Villaseñor expands his homage to New York with a new drop that seeks out the meeting places of a vibrant society. Walt “Clyde” Frazier, the legendary New York Knicks player from the 1970s, and his trainers, which became synonymous with early hip hop, are at the heart of his new collection.

Each of Rhuigi Villaseñor’s Puma releases reflects his distinct vision of New York. Born in the Philippines and raised in Los Angeles, his discovery of New York is a mash-up of cinematic references, those of a man in love with the city even before visiting it, the struggle with LA as an American cultural centre, and Rhuigi’s already established fashion experiences. The spark for the new drop comes from the neighbourhoods.
Barbershops, a gathering place for generations, are transformed into country clubs by a collection that includes coats of arms, pinstripes, and premium leathers. In the centre, two Puma Clyde special editions, “White” and “Inky Blue”.

In FOOTDISTRICT, we looked for the collection’s key components and their connection to barbershops in editorial content that strips away the background while maintaining the central idea of a waiting, dialogue, and discussion point as the catalyst for events in New York.
The latest Puma and Rhuigi Villaseñor collaboration features two Puma Clydes in addition to a cap, pants, T-shirts, and the traditional T7 jacket. Available now at FOOTDISTRICT.
