From South Korea, Over The Pitch has established itself as one of the most insightful voices in contemporary football culture. This collaboration with Mizuno pays tribute to the legacy of the iconic Morelia boot.
The Japanese brand Mizuno celebrates the 40th anniversary of its legendary MORELIA football boots with a special collaboration alongside South Korean studio Over The Pitch, known for its creative approach blending sport, design, and cultural storytelling.

Mizuno MORELIA
The Mizuno MORELIA was born in 1985 from the collaboration between developer Toshiya Yasui and Musashi Mizushima, the first Japanese footballer to play in Brazil’s professional league. The Morelia was created in response to a very specific request: to design football boots light enough to fit inside a suit pocket. The result was revolutionary—combining unmatched lightness, durability, and comfort in a single silhouette. The name “Morelia” pays homage to a city in Mexico, the host nation of the 1986 World Cup—the very stage where the boot became a global legend.
Beyond its technical achievements, the Morelia also marked a visual turning point for the brand. It introduced what we now as the RunBird logo, which had just debuted on Mizuno’s running shoes.

Retro Design, Creative Flight
For this anniversary collection, Over The Pitch reimagines the birth of Morelia through a capsule rich in symbolism. Feather motifs represent the boot’s lightness, while bird-inspired graphics nod to the RunBird identity.
The colors of the Brazilian club where Mizushima played have been reinterpreted through patterns and palettes applied to garments that draw directly from Mizuno’s vintage archives of the 1980s. The result is a collection that connects past and future through aesthetics, memory, and movement.
A capsule where football history takes flight in a contemporary key—now available at FOOTDISTRICT.
