Versatility meets premium in the Off-White Nike Air Presto
The upcoming Off-White Nike Air Presto is about to show us more than some elite Summertime hype. In fact, it’s going to represent a sort of growth for the relationship between Nike and Virgil Abloh.
The Presto is a great shoe to mess around with for a bespoke collaborative release. The model is historically considered one of the most visually versatile looks ever. We got to see just how experimental one can get with it back when Abloh first released The Ten.
In a mostly similar fashion, the incredibly popular designer takes his second look at the model, this time dropping two tonal looks. The contrasts are subtle but show some difference in approach. The Air Presto looks arguably closer to the usual Off-White aesthetic in this latest rendition.
Here, we see two pairs featuring in White and Black bases. The usual branding notes are included, highlighted by the “AIR” script. Now, even though this shows up on both colorways, the White version seems to be popping with a little extra via lateral panel scripts.
For some pragmatism, a perforated mesh upper provides plenty of stretch and ventilation during the Summer months.
There’s also the usual note of deconstructed design that Virgil loves so much. In 2018, part of the sneaker trend story by year’s end will be a focus on this sort of design. Along with some others, Abloh has been a big fan of sneakers showing off what’s inside.
Here, we see this come to life via the lateral Swoosh branding and the sneaker’s tongue area. It reminds us of how this entire partnership started in the first place. If it wasn’t for Virgil walking into Nike HQ and literally cutting open some iconic Nike models, we might not have this release.
