Nike’s habit of putting premium touches on old favorites is one that all of us in the sneakerhead community can appreciate. Equal parts nostalgia and modern luxury, it’s usually a fitting callback to an unquestionable classic. In this effort, NikeLab’s Pinnacle project takes on the two most recognizable Nike runners of all time.
The Air Max 1 and Air Max 90 are at the heart of this release, boasting some eye-catching specs. Each pair comes in two colorways, and the upper is where they stray from the oldies. With the choice of going with an all-Black or Mushroom iteration for each, we see a healthy helping of rich leather and suede. The Black pairs stand out via smooth suede overlays while the Mushroom colorway focuses more so on a tanned leather look. The differences aren’t glaring, but the contrasting color schemes give you some real variety in terms of aesthetic. Particularly worthy of note is how both of these releases seem to have subtle doubled down on a sleeker silhouette. This is definitely going to be a nice surprise for Air Max heads.
