Two giants collide: Nike x Carhartt WIP
For the first time in history, the Nike x Carhartt WIP collection brings these two brands together. To be sure, the combined hype is off the charts.
The two ends of this collaborative drop are massive parts of streetwear culture. Nike’s reputation goes without saying. In most parts of the world, it’s the premier name in activewear. Carhartt’s modern reputation is of streetwear fame. However, their history goes back a long way. Back in 1889, this American brand was equipping laborers for long work days.
The fact that these two labels have come together feels natural. It feels like we’ve been waiting for this for longer than most of us can remember. Moreover, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
This collection drops at a time when functionality is taking center stage. Sure, 2018 is the year of the chunky sneaker. There’s no denying that. But, it’s also a time when the actual builds of shoes have come into focus. Consumers are increasingly looking for more bang for their buck.
In that light, this collection delivers emphatically. Classic Nike silhouettes are fitted with upgraded materials and visuals. Two versions of the Air Force 1 star in this release.
The AF1 Low comes in a crisp Hamilton-Brown canvas upper – that shade is a signature Carhartt hue. The other is the Air Force 1 Utility. Boasting Carhartt’s camo pattern, the AF1 Utility also comes with a ballistic nylon strap.
One of the greatest and better parts of the collection is the Air Max 95. It comes with a combination of canvas and rip-stop uppers in camo. Each of these shoes represents the peak of workwear meeting athleisure. The result is form beautifully informed by function. It’s also available now!
