1976: running brands are head to head in the beginning of a huge fight to be the first in innovation. Then, Nike surprised them all with the Nike LD-1000, the first sneaker to feature a nylon mesh upper which improved flexibility and lightweight.
The acronym “LD” (Long Distance), means they were designed for long distance running. The number “1000” meant they were intended for athletes that run over 1000 miles a year.
Following their style, Nike took this classic model and updated it with a superb result: the Nike Roshe LD-1000.
The shape of the upper is not altered, adding to the vintage essence of the model. The materials are the ones from the original model too: nylon mesh and suede. Meanwhile, the swoosh is made of leather.
The Natural Motion sole takes care of bringing the model up to date. Originally from the Roshe One NM, it features Free technology on the foremost part of the sneaker, and turns the Nike Roshe LD-1000 into a very comfortable model.
