Nike Outburst OG
Nike continues to surprise us. Instead of just calling it a day, we’re getting more in the way of blasts from the past. As if we didn’t have enough heat on the horizon as Air Max Day gets closer and closer. Now, the brand hits us with the Nike Outburst OG.
This classic and underrated model comes back to us from the early 90s. Originally released a standard runner, the shoe sees new life in today’s very particular market.
The trends are quite obvious: clunk, dad shoes are everything right now. Beyond that, there are some admittedly appealing functional and aesthetic elements here.
The upper’s combination of materials is a welcome sight. Nylon comes together with sections of leather for a distinctively retro look. Nylon isn’t granted the sort of respect in the sneaker world.
The material provides an underrated amount o stretch without sacrificing much in the way of durability. It isn’t Flyknit, but it works in a pinch!
Outburst Original
The visuals here are also pretty interesting. One of the colorways fans can expect is the OG White pair, boasting a Green swoosh.
The clean and simple motif is something you’d see quite a bit on professional tennis courts around the time when the Outburst originally dropped. Though it represents a slight lack of imagination, it’s a visually versatile shoe.
The Outburst is among Nike’s more budget-friendly options. That being said, this doesn’t take away from the objective appeal of the shoe as a whole. If anything, it profiles as an underrated banger. Much of the shoe’s look is somewhat standard. But, smaller details add up quickly.
Consider, for example, the midsole. The Outburst sports a chunky midsole section that stands out even by 90s standards. Considering today’s fashion and footwear environment, it returns to us at just the right time.
Even if you’re not particularly fond of the “dad shoe” trend, this shoe presents a sharp silhouette. If that’s not enough, just imagine ricking these bad boys with some light denim.
We don’t like to complain. But, we’re frankly having a tough time keeping up with Nike! The Swoosh brand is flooding our collective news feeds with all sorts of goodies this year. Of course, we’ve got all of the heat coming from new and advanced releases – looking at you, Air Max 270 – but that’s just not enough.
Welcome back Nike Outburst (also available with a Wmns version here). You’re welcome.
