It’s that time of year once again, Swoosh fans. Air Max Day is almost upon us and, while typically we‘d be getting swamped with an onslaught of big-bubble releases right about now, Nike’s month of Max has been a rather quiet affair this year. We are still holding out hope that there are some Air-blessed surprises on the way, but, for now, all we can do is dream about what we’d like to see, and Chad Manzo has the receip.
Thankfully talented designer Chad Manzo has done the hard work for us and has created a stunning showcase of imaginary sneaker hybrids to celebrate Air Max Day 2019.
Manzo has conjured up a total of nine designs and has shared the first three of these with Foot District.
Air Max 90 x Air Skylon II
The first design unites Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 90 with the recently resurrected Air Skylon II. This mashup of early-90s runners poaches the best elements of each, combining the Air Skylon II’s signature mid-panel fade with the beefy bubble of the AM90. Rendered in the always palatable ‘Grape’ colourway, this design would certainly be warmly welcomed on Air Max Day.

P-3000 CNCPT x Air Max 95
Next up, Manzo merges old and new by combining the upper of the all-new P-3000 CNCPT with the Air Max 95’s iconic Air unit. The design also features a Hypervenom-inspired ankle bootie for added flair. Manzo’s concept comes to us in an odd-sounding combination of black, peach, lavender and Volt that works surprisingly well.
Air Max 270 x Zoom 2K
Lastly, Manzo has combined last year’s Air Max Day superstar, the Air Max 270, with the basketball-inspired Zoom 2K. While the upper remains faithful to the Zoom 2K, it has been coloured up with a welcome degree of pop – not unlike the Air Max greats of the early 90s.

We’ll be posting up the rest of Chad Manzo’s designs later this week, so stay tuned and make sure you check out his Instagram to see more of his stunning hybrid creations.
