FOOTDISTRICT presents a new editorial project to accompany the launch of the New Balance ABZORB 1890, a silhouette that redefines the balance between runner aesthetics and contemporary technology.
New Balance ABZORB 1890: The Shore Where Past and Future Intersect
Inspiration does not always emerge from the center, but from the margins. From that invisible line that separates and, at the same time, connects. From this concept comes the narrative surrounding the NB 1890, a silhouette conceived as a point of contact between legacy and innovation.

The New Balance 1890 takes the upper from the iconic 890v3, a direct heir to Y2K runner aesthetics, and places it atop the original NB 2002 sole, creating a harmonious tension between past and present—an interplay we sought to reflect in our editorial work.

The sole unit revisits and expands the story of ABZORB technology, projecting it toward a new technical evolution. The result is a premium hybrid that blends classic elegance, athletic heritage, and contemporary luxury.
The Shore as a Concept: Nostalgia, Trend, and Contrast
The shore shapes the narrative of this launch. That boundary where concrete dissolves into water, where urban energy meets the vastness of the ocean. A space of constant transition.

At this intersection, nostalgia and trend coexist—the memory of 2010s runners and the technical sophistication of the present. The urban and the natural. The constructed and the organic.

The New Balance 1890 embodies this conscious meeting between heritage and future, understanding that innovation does not always arise from something entirely new, but from the reinterpretation of the iconic.

Because it is at the shore where transformation begins.
