So, did you enjoy our first instalment of mad Max mashups? Well, you’re in luck! We’ve got six more crazy Air-blessed creations for you, care of talented graphic designer Chad Manzo. Once again, these imaginative hybrids exist only in the digital realm for now, but we can hope Nike are taking notes for Air Max Day 2020!
Air Max 180 & Mowabb
First up, we have an unusual example of in-brand intimacy in the form of a COMME des GARÇONS x Nike dual hybrid. Chad Manzo has seamlessly combined CDG’s recent Air Max 180 and Mowabb collaborations – and the end result is just as good as the ingredients. Definitely a must-cop for those short on space in their collections.

A Cold Wall x Nike Zoom Vomero 5 x Air VaporMax
Next, Chad Manzo has combined two prime examples of athleisure, merging the A Cold Wall x Nike Zoom Vomero 5 with an Air VaporMax sole unit. It’s a subtle – and welcome – switch-up that takes a backseat to the hybrid’s obnoxious ‘Slimer’ colourway.

Air Jordan 1 x Air Jordan 4
Channeling some GOAT appreciation, Chad Manzo has combined the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 4, with a little bit of inspiration from Stateside boutique UNION. A muted cream colourway beautifully highlights the ‘Bred’ ankle collar. For an added burst of freshness, the AJ’s signature Swooshes have even been replaced with Air tooling.

Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus x Air Max 2 Light
Combining two of the most unexpected Air retros of recent years, this next design brings together the Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus and the recently revived Air Max 2 Light. For extra gaudiness, Chad Manzo serves up this combo with a gold-hued upper and some added flames, inspired by Francesco Ragazzi’s Palm Angels.

Air Jordan 1 x Air Fear of God 1
In what would likely be the most hyped release – were these hybrids ever to see the light of day – this next creation sees the legendary ‘Bred’ Air Jordan 1 combined with Jerry Lorenzo’s recent Nike collaboration: the Air Fear of God 1. The hybrid combines the iconic AJ1 upper with the sleek cage and sole tooling of the Air FOG 1. You better believe there’d be a camp-out for days if these were ever to release!

Nike LDV Waffle Sacai x Air Max 720
Finally, Chad Manzo finishes off his latest collection of hybrids with one that truly combines old and new, with a slight injection of hype for good measure. Sacai’s new LDV Waffle – itself a revamp of an OG Swoosh classic – has been further updated with the newest Air unit in the Nike stable, the Air Max 720. It turns an already crazy sneaker up to 11 and we’re all for it.

That’s it for Chad Manzo’s last installment of ‘This is Madness’.
