This summer, Levi’s Made and Crafted and Atelier Reservé come together again for ‘Handmade’, an exclusive limited edition of classic denim garments, reinvented and updated in an artisan way with the Japanese wabi-sabi philosophy as its main source of inspiration.
Wabi sabi. Turning imperfection to perfection
Nothing is perfect, permanent or immutable . Starting from this premise, extracted from Nature itself, the wabi-sabi philosophy has been built as another way of seeing the world. A quiet, friendly and very special.
According to this ancient Japanese aesthetic trend, imperfection hides beauty in each of its manifestations. For this reason, when an object breaks or suffers some damage, instead of hiding it or making up for it, it is celebrated and exposed, as an example of experience. And what is even more important: you have a new opportunity to serve your purpose, proudly displaying your “scars”.

Long live denim… recycled and customized
If we talk about denim clothing, the first brand that comes to mind is obviously Levi’s. The company founded in 1853 in San Francisco went from making work clothing to being a true reference in fashion and culture. Today, it is a timeless icon that has accompanied several generations.
With a history as exciting as that of its most iconic garments, Levi’s has never stopped innovating, experimenting and seeking new forms of expression to adapt and merge with the trends of each era.

For this reason, the North American company is once again joining forces with the exclusive Amsterdam-based firm, Atelier Reservé, in a collection of classic denim silhouettes, redefined, reinvented and brought back to life. A celebration of the imperfect which, drawing inspiration from Japanese wabi-sabi, finds beauty in both a broken and mended porcelain cup and a patched, mended and reconstructed pair of jeans.

A repair job elevated to the category of art
The characteristic good work of the Dutch can be seen in the application of hand-painted illustrations, the exquisite patchwork and the use of the traditional Boro sewing technique, which is based on the use of hand-embroidered scraps to obtain a single piece of fabric.

Three Levi’s icons – the Stonewashed Levi’s® Trucker Jacket , the Denim Western Shirt and a pair of Levi’s®501 Jeans – that, after the “beautifying” process, become authentic pieces of art, suggestive and imperfect. A limited edition collection as unique and special as the person who wears it, and it can now be yours at FOOTDISTRICT .
