The Air Jordan 1 is, hands down, the most versatile sneaker in all of Jumpman history. Thirty-four years after its debut, the AJ1 is still confident on the court, dedicated on a deck and sultry on the streets.
The Air Jordan 1 High OG Defiant Releases This Saturday

Naturally, for a basketball shoe, Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker was designed with performance heavily in mind. However, thanks to its beautiful contours, aggressive stature and classic Swoosh-clad appearance, the Peter Moore-designed Jordan quickly evolved into a fashion icon – one that would see the silhouette regularly walk the red carpet, even more than three decades after its debut.
We have seen the world of high fashion influence the Air Jordan line multiple times over the years, including the Italian-made Air Jordan 2 and Prada-inspired Air Jordan 15, but now it’s time for the Air Jordan 1 to be rewarded with the same treatment: enter the Air Jordan 1 High OG Defiant ‘Couture’.
The newest Jay on the scene reinterprets the infamously banned ‘Bred’ Air Jordan 1 through a couture lens, simultaneously simplifying and complicating the OG design.

>In true couture fashion, this new AJ1 throws caution to the wind and disregards the model’s original panel-based colour-blocking. Instead, the Air Jordan 1’s upper is almost entirely blanketed in black, save for a striking red racing stripe that transcends panel boundaries and serves to uniquely highlight the model’s signature Swoosh branding. Is it a tribute to a certain Italian supercar or a nod to Prada’s iconic red heel stripe? We’ll let you be the judge!
The colourway is finished off by artificially aged ‘Sail’ sole units that deliver refined contrast.
To go with the Air Jordan 1’s new high-fashion status, Jordan Brand has treated the Model to a much-deserved material upgrade for its ‘Couture’ outing. The AJ1 High OG Defiant is constructed from supple leather – traditionally reserved for the most premium of releases – to really crank the swank.
The Air Jordan 1 High OG Defiant ‘Couture’ releases this Saturday, March 2, at Foot District’s Jordan store. Look for these to hit our online store at 9am CET, followed by in-store releases at 11am CET in Madrid and Barcelona.
