It’s been a huge week for the crew at Patta. Not only is their Air Jordan 7-inspired collab collection finally releasing worldwide (including here at Foot District!), but – out of nowhere – they’ve gone ahead and launched their newest store: Patta Milano. Keen to find out more, we reached out to Patta cofounder Tim Sabajo for all the goss on Patta’s past, present and future.

Matt Williams (M.W.) – Congratulations on Europe’s first Jordan collab! What inspired the colourway behind your Air Jordan 7 collection?
Tim Sabajo (T.S.) – Like most of our collabs, it’s a homage. The colours, and the Air Jordan 7 itself, remind us of a time when we were young.
M.W. – Is that why you were drawn to the AJ7 specifically?
T.S. – Because of that and also because it’s a Jordan model that not many have collaborated on so far.
M.W. – If you had a chance to collaborate on another Jordan, which model would you choose and why?
T.S. – More is actually coming, so you’ll have to wait and see!
M.W. – Jordan collabs are some of of the most desirable and unobtainable in the entire scene. Tell us, how did the collaboration come about?
T.S. – Hard work and dedication! We just do what we do. Plus, we have always had a good relationship with Nike, so one thing led to another.
M.W. – Patta has one of the most impressive collaboration records in the entire sneaker scene. Do you have a personal favourite?
T.S. – The first ASICS we did [the GEL-Lyte III from 2007], because it showed us what we can achieve if we just do what we do.
M.W. – Are there any particular sneakers you are still waiting to collaborate on in the future?
T.S. – No, not really at this point in time.
M.W. – We’re nearly at the halfway point through the year. What’s your favourite sneaker of 2019 so far?… apart from your AJ7, of course!
T.S. – It’s actually one that is still yet to be released: the Nike React Sertu, I love that shoe!
M.W. – So, Patta’s just expanded to Milan. What drew you to Italy?
T.S. – It’s Milan. C’mon, that’s almost a no brainer! [laughs]
M.W. – Finally, what’s next in the pipeline for Patta?
T.S. – We’re just going to keep on doing what we do.
