Here’s a peek into EX-PRESIÓN by Yubia x Foot District x adidas

During confinement, we teamed up with adidas and the artist Yubia (@yu_yubs) to create the EX-PRESIÓN project. The graffiti writer and illustrator has leaded this new campaign that blends streetwear and urban arts, in line with the initiative «Change is a Team Sport» along with the support from Urvanity (@urvanityart).

Part 1. The ideas.

EX-PRESIÓN comes at a time when, more than ever, we crave to express ourselves, to boost our creativity and to feel strongly united to our community. All of this has encouraged us to create a project that helps to relieve our pressure and makes us feel somehow connected to our streets, to that space that we deeply miss. And what better than street art to do it.

Part 2. From the streets to our homes

The project is about a collective artwork where Yubia has been painting spray cans to capture all of your ideas on. Because all of you have been an unlimited source of inspiration by answering the questions that we asked you on that Instagram post: What’s urban culture to you? What pops in your mind when you think of street art, of a whole united community expressing their ideas, of the freedom of coming back to the streets?

Part 3. A collective artwork

And that’s when everything started to flow, giving way to ideas and elements like skateboarding, the street basketball, a pair of Superstars, the Beastie Boys and the wildstyle. So Yubia quickly got to work and reflected all that urban imaginary on different cans, evoking the energy to take back the streets. Because we weren’t able to enjoy our cityscape, but we brought its essence right into our homes.

But this is not all. Now, with the reopening of our stores, you can have a look at the spray cans made by Yubia yourselves. All of them will be exhibited in our store in Madrid (C/ Valverde, 35). You can come see them from this week on from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 19:00. We will be extending our opening hours progressively. We look forward to seeing you!
