The latest band to take on the FOOTDISTRICT and adidas Originals challenge in The Sound of The Original is MOURN, a group that brings their deep-rooted connection with the underground to the adidas Superstar. Their creative take draws inspiration from the sounds of the ’90s and from the women who turned this silhouette into a symbol—despite rarely receiving the recognition they deserved.
Through The Sound of The Original. Creación libre a 3 bandas, we follow different artists through their creative processes. The common thread is the adidas Superstar: a timeless silhouette that connects generations and styles. After the proposals by Delafé y las Flores Azules and Carlota Flâneur, it’s now MOURN’s turn—four musicians who, beneath their bold youth, carry a unique and mature perspective.

MOURN began as a teenage band whose early success quickly placed them in an adult world. That distance forced them to develop their own language—interpreting references in their own way, without direct access to them. The result is a singular evolution that sets them apart from clichés and places them at the heart of creative independence.

That same independence is reflected in their contribution to The Sound of The Original. For the project, MOURN looked back to the ’90s, when the adidas Superstar experienced a powerful revival—from Beastie Boys to Korn, from basketball to skate culture. In their reinterpretation, the band blends the rawness of their underground roots with a tribute to the women who made the Superstar their own symbol—often without the platform or visibility they deserved.

With MOURN, the second chapter of The Sound of The Original. Creación libre a 3 bandas comes full circle. A project that fuses music and fashion to celebrate the authenticity of the adidas Superstar. After exploring the freshness of Carlota Flâneur and the collective energy of Delafé y las Flores Azules, MOURN brings a raw and assertive perspective—one that reinforces the legacy of a silhouette that never stops being original.
