FOOTDISTRICT presents FOOTNOTES, a new editorial project that explores contemporary culture from a different perspective: the margins. Through conversations with figures who help shape the context of various cultural phenomena, the series invites us to pause and look at the stories that usually appear only as footnotes, yet are essential to understanding the full narrative.
A conversation about culture from the margins
Behind every great cultural story there are always footnotes. People, processes and perspectives that rarely take center stage, yet are fundamental to understanding how cultural movements are built.
With FOOTNOTES, FOOTDISTRICT turns its attention precisely to that space. The project takes the form of a series of conversations with figures who, from peripheral positions, help define the context of contemporary culture.
In a cultural landscape increasingly dominated by the immediate, the viral and the obvious, the series seeks to reclaim the value of dialogue, reflection and the exchange of ideas. Each episode unfolds as an open conversation, exploring the connections, references and processes that surround different cultural phenomena.
The project also revives the spirit of stores as places of encounter. The conversations take place within FOOTDISTRICT’s own spaces—its stores in Madrid and Barcelona, SEGUNDO ESPACIO, or even our offices—understood not only as points of sale, but as environments where product coexists with culture, references and ideas.
Frankie Pizá opens FOOTNOTES
The first episode of FOOTNOTES takes place at FOOTDISTRICT Madrid and features Frankie Pizá, a figure connected to music culture whose trajectory has been defined by a critical perspective shaped from the margins.
Pizá approaches cultural criticism as a context creator. His work focuses on illuminating what surrounds the most visible cultural narratives: the dynamics that sustain them, the stories that accompany them and the structures that allow certain cultural phenomena to emerge.
His participation launches the series with a conversation that perfectly reflects the spirit of FOOTNOTES: exploring culture from the edges in order to better understand what happens at the center. The first episode of FOOTNOTES with Frankie Pizá is now available on FOOTDISTRICT’s channels.
