A celebration of Samba, Gazelle, and Superstar’s legacy
Since its debut in the early 1970s, the adidas trefoil has taken on a variety of meanings, ranging from sport to culture. The new adidas Originals campaign, “We Gave the World an Original.You Gave Us a Thousand Back”, remembers everyone who helped the shamrock on its way to the cultural avant-garde.
To commemorate the occasion, FOOTDISTRICT and adidas Originals celebrated the legacy of three timeless trainers from the brand’s archive: Superstar, Gazelle, and Samba, in three spaces created for the occasion and adapted to the experiences of each; Living Room associated with Superstar, The Kitchen associated with Gazelle, and The Backyard, the Powered by FOOTDISTRICT territory, associated with Samba.

Football, the birthplace of the Samba, is the source of legends that have influenced reggae, rock, the Manchester scene, and skateboarding before becoming a fashion element. It is the seed of an evolution that adidas understands like few others, stories born in stadiums and then transformed into cultural avant-garde.

Football as a sport and as an inspirational culture, was the centre of our space. It was also the place Rusowsky chose to perform his intimate electronic set.



The artist, producer, and dj previously visited FOOTDISTRICT Madrid to renew his unpredictable style, an aesthetic correlate of his music that, like her, mixes the exaggerated, unexpected, and an exquisite touch of melancholy in which he demonstrates his originality. Clothes that appear in unexpected places and extreme combinations that she wore during The Backyard x Samba’s DJ set.
Many friends from adidas Originals and FOOTDISTRICT passed through the various spaces dedicated to Samba, Gazelle, and Superstar and converted into DJ sets and concert halls.





A night in which adidas Originals relived its evolution from sport to cultural relevance through three of its trainers, Superstar, Samba, and Gazelle, as well as all those who have contributed to telling the trefoil’s story.
