To kick off this series, ASICS partners with acclaimed Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen, introducing the GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 SSCB, a renowned sneaker reimagined with a sophisticated aesthetic and designed with her in mind.
A collaboration born from a classic
The Signature Series is created to inject new vitality into essential products, inviting creative minds to reinterpret ASICS‘ emblematic models under the motto “Sound Mind, Sound Body.” The goal is to merge artistic expression with the joy of movement and everyday comfort.
This first release marks the return of the emblematic GEL-CUMULUS™ 16, one of ASICS’ latest archival bring-backs. Originally launched in 2014, the GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 offers a perfect blend of nostalgia and comfort.
For this season, ASICS reimages the model through a distinctly feminine perspective. Cecilie Bahnsen infuses her “Everyday Couture” philosophy into three elegant versions of the GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 Signature Series. Each is adorned with delicate floral prints on the upper, semi-transparent mesh layers, and a unique flower-shaped lace toggle. “In designing this shoe, we wanted to explore the combination of femininity and masculinity,” explains Cecilie Bahnsen. “We used subtly transparent materials and delicate floral motifs that contrast with a robust silhouette, playing with shine and matte, softness and structure, light and shadow. The inspiration came from flowers casting faint shadows in pale sunlight; a subtle, romantic image we sought to capture through layers and textures.”
