After the remarkable reception of her collaboration with Nike, Yoon Ahn of AMBUSH has fully immersed herself in the world of footwear. The Dior Men’s jewelry design director wanted to create an urban shoe for this season that oozed utility and military inspiration. So, Converse arrived to make that dream come true.

Converse and Ambush reinvent the legacy of the American brand
A meeting between the two was enough to cement the creation of a joint collaboration
for the end of 2019. Interestingly enough, the ideas Yoon Ahn had in her head coincided with some of the oldest archives at Converse, whose first products were rain boots and other functional footwear for hunting or military use.

The two most emblematic models of the brand, the Chuck Taylor and the Pro Leather, were the starting point silhouettes from which Yoon Ahn developed her process of reinvention and remastering. The result of the collaboration is a masterful pairing that maintains the purest essence of Converse and adds the unmistakable personality of AMBUSH, which demonstrates its ability to reinterpret an iconic shoe from pop culture.
The classic Chuck Taylor and Pro Leather silhouettes adopt layers of rubber, robust soles and subtle futuristic touches, and are inspired by the footwear worn by the U.S. military during winter missions. Lettering details stand out, with instructions on the outer panel adding a humorous touch with phrases such as “Keep double laced to hold firmly”.

The Chuck Taylor comes in a full white colorway, while the Pro Leather comes in a full black colorway, including laces and soles. Each features the classic Converse logo, as well as the AMBUSH logo and the number 9 stamped on the back.
The Converse x AMBUSH collaboration will be available starting Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Foot District online.
