Never too much: BBC x Pharrell Williams x adidas NMD Hu
Reprising a hype-friendly collaboration, the Three Stripes brand brings us the BBC x Pharrell Williams x adidas NMD Hu and Tennis Hu V2. adidas has been on a longterm tear when it comes to collaborations. Part of that has to do with the brand’s approach to finding partners.
They are notorious for their global reach and willingness to hear out some of the crazier design pitches for collaborations. An equally pivotal part of this is also the fact that everybody in the footwear game wants a piece of adidas.
From all of the Boost to the futuristic aesthetics, adidas continues to grab the attention of notable brands from all over. This time, we see Billionaire Boys Club make their latest attempt at a collab release.
The center of this drop is no doubt going to be the NMD Hu model. A special design in collaboration with Pharrell Williams, this adidas piece is an irresistible opportunity for an outside brand to take on. BBC takes on nautical colors for this one, decking the Primeknit upper out in White, Navy, Red, and Yellow.
Each shoe comes with a script, one reads HEART while the other sports MIND. This is a reference to the Billionaire Boys Club slogan: “wealth is of the heart and mind, not the pocket.” As for branding here, a Gold trefoil logo gleams on the NMD Hu’s heel.
The Tennis Hu is the other piece of this collection. Though featuring largely similar color choices to the NMD Hu, the Tennis model shows a particular focus on Red. The Scarlet shade features prominently along the vamp and tongue. The knit upper here also comes with extra overlays of suede in Navy along the midsole and heel.
The color choice is vivid but feels classic. And, of course, you could certainly do worse in model choice than these two bangers. Check it all out at our adidas store.
