The Barbour jacket’s manufacture
Four different pieces of fabric are needed to make each pocket in a Barbour jacket. They are wool- or moleskin-lined pockets, ideal to warm our hands on ice-cold days. The closure, with 2-way zippers, is made from anti-corrosive metal and a very handy ring that has become a distinctive touch of the classic coat. Over this zipper, a snap buttoned flap reinforces protection. With rounded edges that avoid signs of wear and necklines typically made from wool, the Barbour flaunt a wide range of features that makes them unique.
Furthermore, the textiles are made from thornproof cotton that is coated with an impermeable wax. Another word worth mentioning: Tattershall, the name of that English squared print that is used for the inner lining. The traditional Barbour jacket provides the possibility to add buttoned faux fur linings, easy to put on and remove, with an also detachable hood.
