ASICS has just released a new retro iteration of the GEL-Kayano 14 silhouette. Reimagined again by Hidenori Yamashita with metallic gold or red details, they become the perfect sneakers for a casual and modern look.

The Japanese giant (@asics) introduced for the first time the GEL-Kayano 14 in 2008 as a sports shoe. Until then, all the sneakers from the GEL-Kayano series from ASICS had been designed by Toshikazu Kayano, their creator. However, the fourteenth model changed this trend.
The GEL-Kayano 14 has been created by a designer other than its namesake. This fact makes it the first model of the series proposed by someone who is not the original creator. Hidenori Yamashita is the author of this historic edition.

Under the direction of Yamashita, the silhouette stands out for its renewed functionality with overlays on the shiny mesh, details in red or gold and, of course, its characteristic GEL sole. The equipping of this midsole with GEL cushioning technology confirms that the new model maintains the performance capabilities of the original GEL-Kavano 14.

The result is a nostalgic pair full of details. The GEL-Kavano stamp on the back structure, the word “GEL” on the heel or the ASICS logo on the tongue. A striking design focused on its usefulness and on an aesthetic that leaves no one unnoticed.

This retro-futuristic sneaker that references the 2000s, is inspired by professional athletes, in that fraction of a second in which the runner supports the heel and propels later with the toes. All the aspects of the GEL-Kayano 14 are based on that idea of “flash”, of speed, of dynamism. Both the color and the lines and materials.

The new ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 are now available in our Foot District catalogue in both colors.
