FOOT DISTRICT ATELIER opens the gates, a workshop + contest that provides the possibility to become a real sneaker designer. You will only need creativity, imagination and a comfy seat to get down to work in your own creation.

Foot District Atelier is made to bring to reality every sneakerhead’s dream, providing the opportunity to anyone who would like to get closer to their dream of creating their own design through a virtual workshop. This action will be held virtually.
#FootDistrictAtelier starts with an online workshop led by Sam van Ijzendoorn aka VIJZ (@vijzbespokes), a professional sneaker customizer. It was 2013 when Vijz started to restore old sneakers in his attic, and about three years later he decided to create something of his own. That’s how the artist began to build his own version of the most iconic sneaker’s patterns, applying new materials, colors, overlaps and different styles. Now it’s your turn. In the Vijz’s workshop you will learn basic design knowledge and some good tips.

After this workshop, each of the participants will be ready to trigger their imagination and create their very own design. The workshop consists in developing a personalized re-edition from classic patterns that will be provided in the Foot District Atelier webpage. You will be able to choose from a variety of more than ten iconic models, from the Nike Air Force 1 to the Vans Old Skool. The colors, textures, materials and any other details can be freely reinvented according to the creator’s taste, always following the mentioned guideline, and the best part is that you don’t need to be a Photoshop master: you can use either digital techniques as well as hand painting, with the simple tools as a pencil, markers or any other type of painting… you can even make a collage! It will be our audience who will vote for their favorite on our webpage. The 30 designs with the highest amount of votes will make it to the next and final round. You can join the contest until April 30th at 23:59h. We won’t accept more participations after that time.
