2016 has been a fairly good year for the Air Jordan 9. Sure, it didn’t get quite as much love as AJ 12. But, Jordan Brand brought out arguably the AJ 9’s best iteration earlier this year, releasing its “Kobe” iteration. With Bryant retiring earlier this year, it was a well-timed drop. Now, the 9 gets even more love from the Jumpman with this drop of the OG itself.
Back in 1993, the Air Jordan 9 was released in a limited amount of colorways for the 1993-1994 NBA season. The White/Black-True Red was the very first. Here, we see it re-released in all its glory. It’s a simply executed basketball sneaker. We see a White leather base contrasted by a Black midsole. True Red hints come in the form of the Jumpman branding. Look for these to drop tomorrow, December 3rd.
Playing on the retirement theme again: the Air Jordan 9 was the first shoe released during MJ’s first retirement from the game. Get your own piece of retro history at our Jordan store.
