Footwear does some good: the Air Jordan 3 “Katrina”
The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” returns to us after its last and only drop back in 2006. At this point, it was auctioned off in the efforts to assist in recovery from the devastating effects of hurricane Katrina.
The shoe was, in its own way, a welcome example of footwear being used for good. In the monster that is the Jordan hype machine, it’s nice to know that this sort of power can, every now and again, be used for good. Here, we get a look at the shoe’s most recent drop, coming to us as a Spring/ Summer option.
This shoe wasn’t difficult to sell. First of all, the cause was universally worthy of support. Second, the shoe itself is a work of art. It brings together some of the most sought-after qualities in Air Jordan sneakers to date.
The combination of White, Cement, and Fire Red represents three different pieces of the Jordan hype machine that have led to sell-outs for years now. Additionally, it’s a clean finish in that crispy White base coating the OG leather construction.
Throw some denim on with these and forget about needing a Plan B. The Air Jordan 3 has long been considered one of the most comfortable of the retro Jordan models to date.
This has made the legendary sneaker a favorite of most Jordan fans. In fact, it’s seldom excluded from Top 5 lists. For its part, this Air Jordan 3 iteration should prove to be a stand out the release when it’s all said and done.
Of course, a big part of that has to do with the popular color combination and how well it’s going to sell. But, an even bigger contribution to this is a reminder that it released during a troubling time for the state of Louisiana.
