The Air Jordan 11 “Midnight Navy” is a release that garners more lines than hype would suggest. The marketing behind this sneaker will almost assuredly bring more attention to the uniqueness of this colorway, beyond the fact that it resembles the legendary “Concord” pair. As Jordan Brand makes clear, this sneaker is all about the UNC roots of the greatest player in the history of basketball.
The story of Michael Jordan’s time at the University of North Carolina is one we don’t know a ton about. But, we all know how it ended. MJ hits a huge shot to close out the national title game, giving UNC a trophy to take home. This shoe makes a celebration of this tremendous win by highlighting the Jumpman logo in a “Carolina Blue.” The rest of the upper is in a White base, highlighted by a glossy patent leather section that adopts the shoe’s namesake color scheme. Much like the Black on the Concord pair, the patent leather’s Midnight Blue look makes for an intriguing contrast.
The comparisons to the more iconic and older color scheme are justified, but this iteration is no stylistic slouch. This sneaker will prove to be as versatile on your outfits as the GOAT was on the basketball court. This also marks the first Air Jordan 11 release at the beginning of the holiday season, which hopefully means we can expect more of the same!
That being said, Jordan Brand has made it known that this drop will be in very limited qualities due to production issues.
