Tinker is back: Air Jordan 10 Tinker ‘Huarache Light’
The Air Jordan 10 Tinker ‘Huarache Light’ brings us back some memories from the legendary Nike designer’s earlier days at the brand. The shoe’s color scheme will no doubt be what jumps out at people the most. The bright Racer Blue base comes together with an accompanying Black shade. Along the midsole and outsole, we see a potent mix of White and slivers of Team Orange. Lighter Blue notes also decorate the shoe’s lining along the ankle collar.
The color scheme may look a bit familiar as well. It should, seeing as how it’s directly inspired by the Nike Air Huarache Light. Specifically, this Air Jordan 10 takes from the ‘Ultramarine’ iteration of that 90s runner. The connection here is that MJ himself was seen frequenting this shoe back in his glory days.
There is a slightly more subtle connection here between the two shoes as well. The Air Jordan 10’s original design takes from the aforementioned runner, using a Huarache inner sleeve for comfort.
Speaking of which, the OG Air Jordan 10 was a surprise to many. Most folks assumed we’d reached the end of the Jordan signature series. This had more than a little bit to do with the fact that Michael had retired from the game of basketball around the release of the Air Jordan 9.
Tinker, however, presses on, even despite minimal input from MJ himself. Tinker had a few interesting ideas with this shoe originally. One of the notes from its initial mock-ups was a leather strap that ran along the toe. When Michael returned to professional basketball, he needed the shoe to lose this feature. The GOAT liked his sneakers clean and without much fuss.
With so much history between Tinker, the Air Jordan 10, and the Air Huarache Light, this shoe looks and feels like a footwear history piece.
