Air Jordan 1 Homage Celebrates Greatness
The Air Jordan 1 “Homage to Home” is another example of a major brand consolidating its catalog into something new. The Homage to Home colorway brings together a split design with the visual and feel of high-quality leathers.
In fact, this isn’t just any set of iconic colorways to bring together. Jordan Brand has combined some very recognizable looks in the form of the “Banned” and “Bred” colorways.
Opinions will be split – see what we did there? – but one thing is for sure: you won’t forget this model anytime soon. The upper is in an appropriate variety of builds.
The combination brings together the Banned and Bred looks by using the common theme of Red accents. Interestingly, even though the shoe isn’t quite orthodox, there hasn’t been much in the way of change.
Each side of this split look has maintained its original form, seemingly giving off notes of its familiar quality. The midsoles show their usual stitch details and even the ankle and lacing portions are perfectly maintained.
One underrated aspect here is the inclusion of both the wings logo and Nike Air branding, something the brand could’ve easily chosen to go without. The Split scheme is something we’ve seen from Nike before.
Special editions of models such as the Air Force 1 have given us a solid feel for what this sort of iteration looks and feels like. Beyond that, Nike has been experimenting with combining color schemes for quite some time now.
The “What The” series of colorways on basketball sneakers is perhaps the most notable example, bringing together a bevy of otherwise standard colors. The result, much like this Air Jordan 1, is visually jarring.
With this look for the Air Jordan 1, there will be a fair amount of criticism. But, most AJ models debut that way before eventually becoming no-doubt classics.
Check these out when they drop May 19th!
