Back to OG: Air Jordan 1 High OG “Court Purple” and “Pine Green”
We take a look at the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Court Purple” and “Pine Green”. Representing the latest looks for this historic sneaker, it’s starting to look like Jordan Brand has gone and done it again.
The Air Jordan 1 has been a staple with the sneaker community for plenty of valid reasons. Chief among them is perhaps the shoe’s association not just with Michael himself, but the very start of one of the world’s most coveted footwear brands.
As such, there’s quite a bit behind the Air Jordan 1 in terms of historical weight. There’s also the notable factor of the shoe itself. Covered in thick cuts of premium leathers, this shoe is a call-back to the glory days of basketball’s “Golden Era.”
The latest colorways we see here bring us a mix of the old with some of the new. The “Pine Green” look will seem familiar to most Jordan heads. The “Celtics” colorway of the Air Jordan 1 had a nearly identical motif, making good use of the Green hues.
The “Court Purple” is a bit out of nowhere, though. And yet, it all seems to come together so naturally. The high-quality tumbled leathers on these respective uppers seem to be incapable of looking bad.
What also amplifies these aesthetics is the use of each colorway. The color blocking is directly inspired by that of the hotly pursued “Shattered Backboard” iteration of the Air Jordan 1. This simple, no-frills execution effectively makes it easy to throw just about any color onto this iconic hoops sneaker.
Unlike some of the general release versions we’ve seen of the AJ 1, these simply do not compromise on quality. They’re sure to leave the sneaker community impressed.
