An aesthetic statement: adidas x NEIGHBORHOOD
The adidas x NEIGHBORHOOD collection is an interesting amalgamation of a few concepts. From footwear to clothing, there’s a whole lot going on here.
Let’s start with what this collection is putting on our feet. There is a good selection of footwear spanning some of adidas’s distinctive stylings. Earlier this summer, we got a look at one of those in the Stan Smith Boost. The OG tennis sneaker sees perhaps the most modest upgrade in that it really doesn’t change much.
The upper is still in a gleaming leather, sporting NEIGHBORHOOD branding on the lateral panels. The Boost underfoot is hard to miss here, giving the classic model an updated look. An interesting subtle note comes via the shoe’s tongue. One sports a younger picture of Stan Smith himself while the other sees him further down the line in older age.

Next up is the people’s champ when it comes to NMD alternatives, the I-5923. A mix of leather, suede, and synthetic overlays sit on a breathable mesh upper.
Finally, the highlight of the footwear offerings here has to be the Kamanda. Since its release, adidas has been plugging this shoe with its full marketing force. As if debuting just in time for the World Cup earlier this summer wasn’t enough, the Kamanda has already been the subject of a pair of collabs.
For this NEIGHBORHOOD release, the shoe takes on a more football-inspired aesthetic. Asymmetrical lacing reminds us of the legendary adidas Predator boots. The upper is in a soft suede construction and sees a diagonal graphic of NEIGHBORHOOD branding, the letters transitioning from plain English to Sans Serif.

Leading the way for the apparel line here is the M65 field jacket. This gorgeous piece packs quite the punch. It comes with a removable inner vest made from Primaloft. There are plenty of visuals to work with here as well. Each pocket picks up the recognizable old English NBHD logo. Two of the pockets pick up the signature graphics of artist Thornhill DeWitt.
Throw in more choices – like the inclusion of tracksuits, hoodies, and tees – and you’ve got yourself an impressive release. The color palette really jumps out at you. The mix of Olive tones as well as hits of Black throughout indicate the football-meets-motorcycle gangs aesthetic.

The quality is unquestionable and the visuals are memorable. What more could you ask for? Check it all out at our adidas store now.
