adidas’s history involves a considerable collection of unforgettable sneakers. Among the Stan Smiths and Superstars is one equally worthy of note, the Samba.
Originally conceived back in the 1950s, by founder Adi Dassler himself, the Samba shares a similar culture arch with most older shoes. It was first designed as a high performance option, sporting a comfy leather upper and supportive lateral stripes. Then, rather inevitably, it became a style icon once it was seized by the right sub culture. Now, it lives on in this latest Women’s exclusive from adidas.
We get the same snug leather upper, bordered by a rich nubuck layer. The inner linings are also decked in a premium leather, adding even more luxe to this vintage model. The gum outsole also boasts a semi translucent property, a stylistic detail that doesn’t take away from utility. If you weren’t around in the 50’s or an English “dandy” in the 80’s, this is your chance to step into some adidas history.
