Grey and Lilac adidas P.O.D. S3.1
We see one of the newest Three Stripes iterations in new colors, the adidas P.O.D. S3.1 in Grey and Lilac. The brand has been kind enough to provide some heat in both Men’s and Women’s versions.
The shoe itself involves the use of adidas’s latest midsole innovation: the P.O.D. system. In this setup, we see Boost on the heel in a thick cut. Rather than more of the brand’s elite cushion at the forefoot, we instead see a standard EVA layer. It’s an interesting design decision that isn’t entirely new.
Though the actual P.O.D. system is fresh, the overall look reminds us of adidas’s Barricade silhouette. As with other pieces of their performance collection, the Barricade sees the Three Stripes brand similarly segment the midsole into a Boost heel section and an EVA forefoot. Functionally speaking, it’s far from being a bad design. Visually, it’s interesting at the very least.
The two colorways featured here provide two distinct flavors. The first combines Grey with smaller notes of Orange via the “P.O.D. S3.1” branding. On the Lilac look, we get a similar aesthetic but with the accompanying accents in an “Orchid Tint” White.
Each comes with a base material of performance mesh. The breathable material option also makes for a very airy choice. As usual with adidas runners, this shoe is ready for both your style and performance needs.
The P.O.D S3.1 is even more proof of adidas’s dominance in the runners’ category. It feels like every other day brings a new story or report about the decline in sales of basketball shoes and other performance sneakers. A huge part of that is the latest lean towards “athleisure” that the folks over at adidas recognized very early.
It’s certainly reasonable to expect even more heat from the brand in the coming months! Both of thee looks will be dropping on August 16th, so make sure you don’t miss them. Check them at our adidas section.
