The Handball Spezial is a legendary adidas silhouette that has been transformed into a modern classic by Sporty & Rich style.
adidas Originals x Sporty & Rich, IV
The fourth collaboration of adidas and Sporty & Rich is framed in two of the basic characteristics of Emly Oberg’s brand, classic elements and colors associated with vintage eras. If previous collections featured models such as adidas Samba, Campus or Stan Smith, now it is the Handball Spezial that is updated with the particular vision of Sporty & Rich.
Sporty & Rich and adidas Originals
Sporty & Rich was born as a moodboard long before it was a brand. A collection of images curated by Emily Oberg that had in common a vision of sport and life marked by beauty. Seventies tennis style, eighties fitness and nineties magazines. Ivy league, the Riviera, breakfasts in the sun and golf clubs.
From 2022, adidas and Sporty & Rich have collaborated on four releases inspired by some of the classics selected from the German brand’s archive, garments like the Firebird Tracksuit and references to Beckenbauer’s style, along with historical sneakers like Samba, Campus or Stan Smith, always adapted to the Sporty & Rich codes.
adidas Handball Spezial
This collaboration focuses on footwear with new colorways of the adidas Handball Spezial, a silhouette from the golden era of the shamrock, originally born as a handball model, although popularized in the eighties in a very different context, the terrace culture and aesthetic, related to soccer as a spectator.
The three versions of the adidas Originals x Sporty & Rich Handball Spezial are drawn from the color palette of the brand’s moodboard, always with suede upper, the three stripes in white and the brand’s stamp in gold.
