Forever necessary: ACRONYM x Nike Air VaporMax Moc 2 Black Volt
Two powerhouse brands come together for more collaborative heat as we take a look at the ACRONYM x Nike Air VaporMax Moc 2 Black Volt. ACRONYM and Nike have seen nothing but smooth sailings as partners in the shoe game. Frankly, it’s no wonder.
ACRONYM founder Errolson Hugh’s main fashion ethos is about functionality, mixed in with some futuristic sharpness. It’s the sort of approach that you can apply positively to almost any silhouette.
Luckily for us, Nike basically has a treasure trove of designs for talented partners to work with. For this latest release, the pair tinker with the Air VaporMax Moc.
Debuting late last year, the Air VaporMax Moc brings together the latest and greatest of Nike’s line-up with an old-school gem. The Air Moc’s laceless structure combines effortlessly with the VaporMax, bringing about something totally new in the process.
As far as Errolson goes, it was the perfect addition to his long run with Nike. Largely minimalist in its build, the pair decided to deck the upper in camouflage looks on a Flyknit upper.
The result expresses, as Nike puts it, “the art of disguise and an unexpected vision of the future.”
It’s a brilliant design, but the marketing around it is equally worthy of note. The theme for this shoe would be a Western-style advertising campaign, employing the services of John Mayer and Errolson Hugh himself.
It turns out that John Mayer is a bit of an OG in the ACRONYM collectors’ game, so he was a pretty natural choice.
This rendition of the Air VaporMax Moc 2 is a great sign of both the collaborators’ past and their bright future. We can only hope that the folks over at Nike and ACRONYM continue to work together and churn out bangers.
