Or rather, they never stopped being so. Because more than 20 years after the end of one of the most crucial decades in contemporary history, the style and influence of the time that saw the birth of grunge, rap or electronic music has not disappeared, but rather, it continues to grow and take hold in the collective imagination.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/media\/wysiwyg\/blog\/noventasuno.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"670\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The decade that changed the world&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The decade of the 90s<\/strong> was the beginning and the end of many things: the end of the Cold War, the arrival of the internet to our lives, the birth of new and exciting musical styles, the disappearance of others, the emergence of a stronger ecological awareness&#8230; <strong>Changes that were inevitably reflected in the way we present ourselves to the world: our clothing.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/media\/wysiwyg\/blog\/noventasdos.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"670\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The explosion of subcultures&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the midst of this social, political and cultural earthquake, a youth phenomenon took place that and reached its highest peak during the 90s, although it was not born during that decade: <strong>subcultures<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/media\/wysiwyg\/blog\/noventastres.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"670\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Located in the big cities, <strong>young people from all over the planet accentuated to the extreme their interests<\/strong>, their ideology or their belonging to a particular group or urban tribe as a way of affirming their own identity in a world that was beginning its non-stop globalization. And, of course, <strong>this was reflected in the clothes they wore<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Style as a sign of identity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this way, and far from the catwalks and the international fashion circus, the <strong>different subcultures associated with youth movements, musical styles and alternative lifestyles<\/strong> began to leave their mark on the way they dressed, <strong>gradually permeating the rest of society<\/strong> and beginning to attract the attention of designers and style gurus alike.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/media\/wysiwyg\/blog\/noventascuatro.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"670\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus, classic garments such as <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/levis-made-and-crafted-type-ii-sherpa-oversized-men-s-trucker-jacket-34470-0005.html\">Levi&#8217;s denim jackets<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/levis-made-and-crafted-expedition-safari-men-s-vest-a0280-0000.html\">vests<\/a> were rescued -one more time-, while others traditionally associated with higher social classes began to be seen on the street, combined with more sporty or casual garments, such as Harrington jackets from brands like <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/baracuta-x-needles-g9-printed-corduroy-mens-jacket-brcps0839-ut2525-7269.html\">Baracuta<\/a>. At the same time, utilitarianism &#8211; more typical of <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/carhartt-wip-janet-liner-womens-fleece-jacket-i025151-0hjxx.html\">Carhartt<\/a> workwear or military-style clothing &#8211; jumped into the mainstream through <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/adidas-eqt-mens-vest-hg8092.html\">vests<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/thisisneverthat-sherpa-mens-fleece-jacket-tn213fowls02-navy.html\">bombers<\/a> and cargo pants; and sports and <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/the-north-face-standard-mens-sweatshirt-nf0a4m7wbdq1.html\">outdoor<\/a> clothing and equipment moved from the gym to techno clubs and hip hop soundsystems. <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/nike-women-s-air-max-96-ii-dq0830-100.html\">Nike<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/adidas-eqt-running-support-93-s29092.html\">adidas<\/a> reigned in and out the court, but new players like <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/new-balance-m990-gl5.html\">New Balance<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/asics-women-s-gel-preleus-1202a061-101.html\">Asics<\/a> entered the game. The craze for <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/huf-vandenberg-corduroy-mens-jacket-jk00311-toffe.html\">skateboarding<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/stussy-wear-men-s-hoodie-118446-ash-heather.html\">streetwear<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/zapatillas\/\">sneakers<\/a> had only just begun.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The eternal decade<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">21 years after the end of the 20th century, <strong>we are still stuck in the 90s<\/strong>. At least stylistically speaking. Because there is no season that fashion magazines and trend magazines worldwide declare that &#8220;the 90s are back&#8221;.
