In 1985, the highly respected journal <\/span>Tennis Magazine<\/span><\/em> referred to its Medallist silhouette as the \u201cbest tennis shoe on the market\u201d and, two years later, <\/span>Runner’s World <\/span><\/em>gave their Jetstreamer shoe five stars, positioning Autry as <\/span>the leading brand in the running shoe market<\/strong>. And, as is often the case, that was just the beginning. <\/span><\/p>\n

Soon, <\/span>the clean and fresh look of the \u201ctrainers with the American flag\u201d hit the streets<\/strong> and were soon the firm favourite of millions. So much so that they became fashion and style icons, transcending their original function – sports gear to play tennis in – and even featuring in hit movies such as <\/span>The Breakfast Club <\/span><\/em>and <\/span>Stand by Me. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

That’s how <\/span>Autry became North America’s best-selling brand of sneakers<\/strong>; everybody wanted to wear those white trainers with the America flag so they could be as cool as the actors and actresses of the day.
