We have to thank no one less than Jerry Lorenzo and his brand Fear of God ESSENTIALS (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/essentials\/?hl=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@essentials<\/a>) for their comeback.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-66088\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.footdistrict.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/magefan\/footdistrict-fog-x-converse-1-2.jpg\" alt=\"Converse-FOG\" width=\"1000\" height=\"699\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/en\/converse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Converse<\/a> and Jerry Lorenzo teamed up to deliver a new version of the emblematic <\/span><b>Skigrip, the model that debuted 110 years ago and that, according to the designer himself, didn\u2019t receive the deserved attention.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Its history begins in 1910 with the origin of the Converse Circular Vamp Oxford (CVO), which specially ruled <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">over<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0the skater world, over boats, basketball and tennis. It wouldn\u2019t be until the 60s when they would be renamed: Skidgrip, in reference to the non-skid soles designed for boat decks. Twenty years after, the model would become one of the favorites in the BMX scene and the surf world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5>A cultural mix<\/h5>\n<p>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CEHtEtCHYrL\/?utm_source=ig_embed<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Converse Skidgrip Hi-Top from 1987, known as Con-Rad, featured striking colorful and fresh prints as a result of a collaboration with <\/span><b>JAMS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which defined their way to become an even more iconic pair, an absolute pop icon. \u201cIn South Florida and California kids surf and skate\u201d, affirms Lorenzo. \u201cThose cultures naturally blended\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-66090\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.footdistrict.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/magefan\/footdistrict-fog-x-converse-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"converse fog\" width=\"1000\" height=\"699\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is time to give them a new life. \u201c<\/span><b>We picked the Skidgrip because it was a show that I loved when I was younger. Our aim in bringing back a silhouette that has been perhaps overlooked is to bring it a fresh relevance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201d. This contemporary version is a careful re-edition, implementing a 30-degree slope along the midsole, from toe to heel.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-66091\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.footdistrict.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/magefan\/footdistrict-fog-x-converse-3-1.jpg\" alt=\"essentials\" width=\"1000\" height=\"699\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0\u201cThe sole is the biggest takeaway when you look at the sneaker\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, said Lorenzo. \u201cIt feels very much like our main line, the Fear of God 101, and gives it the same feeling looking down as looking down at the Skidgrip in the late 80s\u201d. The truth is that the <\/span><b>pop colors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on the upper are also present in an abstract and eye-catching graphic that combines green, blue, purple, red, black and white. Features that also are worth a mention are the padded heel, the ESSENTIALS and CONVERSE labels on the tongue and the round cords.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-66092\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.footdistrict.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/magefan\/footdistrict-fog-x-converse-a.jpg\" alt=\"converse essentials\" width=\"1000\" height=\"699\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Converse Skidgrip Fear of God ESSENTIALS come out on August 27<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
