In 2017, Off-White mastermind Virgil Abloh<\/strong><\/a> popularised lo-fi DIY aesthetics with his critically acclaimed Nike<\/a><\/strong> collaboration \u2018The Ten\u2019. The collection revisited a selection of iconic Swoosh staples with the idea of showcasing the brilliance of each design inside and out, flaws and all. In recent times, we\u2018ve seen a number of sneakers from brands across the board dabble in DIY-style footwear to varying degrees of success, but Nike\u2019s latest attempt, the \u2018N. 354\u2019 collection, is one of the best yet, with one model in particular tickling our fancy: the Drop Type LX.<\/p>\n

Nike Drop Type LX \u2018N. 354\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Before we dive into this week\u2019s specific sneaker of the week, it\u2019s important to establish exactly what the \u2018N. 354\u2019 collection is. Nike\u2019s newest venture is a deep dive into experimentation, intended to push boundaries to their limit by remixing convention and tradition.<\/p>\n

The collection\u2019s name is a reference to the fastest mile set by Steve Prefontaine, an American long-distance runner who trained under Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman and was extremely influential during the brand\u2019s founding years. He was an undeniable prodigy tipped for major success. Sadly, Pre\u2019s life was cut tragically short in 1975, meaning the world was denied from witnessing his full potential. The \u2018N. 354\u2019 collection embraces Pre\u2019s pioneering spirit by merging past, present and future.<\/p>\n

The \u2018N. 354\u2019 collection debuts at Foot District this Monday in two forms. The first design delivers a major overhaul of the Air Force 1 Low that incorporates new materials and innovations, while the second, the Drop Type LX, is completely new. The Drop Type LX is a low-top court shoe reminiscent of the All Court 2, but different enough to stand on its own merits. The new model\u2019s design is distinctively raw, but also exceedingly clean \u2013 especially in this suitably summery colourway.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s most impressive about the Drop Type LX, however, is the price: only \u20ac100. This is one shoe that feels like an absolute bargain, even at full price! All things considered, the Drop Type LX is a very worthy recipient of the title \u2018Sneaker of the Week\u2019.<\/p>\n
