There are plenty of must-have sneaker releases this week, from the \u2018Side B\u2019 Nike<\/a> Air Max 90s to the \u2018Antlia\u2019 adidas<\/a> Yeezy Boost 350 V2s. While these have all certainly taken our fancy, when we sat down to debate our pick for Sneaker of the Week, we found ourselves drawn to something a little more experimental: the Air Max 720 \/ OBJ.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nike Air Max 720 \/ OBJ<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Air Max 720 debuted earlier this year, packing the tallest Visible Air unit in history. While we were immediately drawn to the imposing cushioning unit down below, the upper left many divided \u2013 it was relatively simple in design by contrast. This definitely served to highlight the ultra-aggressive full-length Air bubble, but, we\u2019ll admit, left us curious as to how the 720 would look with an upper equally as wild.<\/p>\n

Enter Odell Beckham Jr.<\/p>\n

The former New York Giants \u2013 soon-to-be Cleveland Browns \u2013 wide receiver signed the largest endorsement contract in NFL history with Nike back in 2017 and we immediately knew big things were coming. After all, the American football superstar is as well known for his stellar athletic performance as he is for his impeccable fashion sense. We\u2019ve seen a few OBJ x Nike sneakers emerge over the past couple of years, but the latest has had us especially excited. OBJ has put his spin on the Air Max 720 and the end result is anything but tame. It takes the comfort and imposing aesthetics of the AM720 sole unit and complements it with an equally wild upper.<\/p>\n

OBJ\u2019s take on the 720 is far more than just a new colourway though. He has been given free reign to completely reinvent the upper to his heart\u2019s content, and that\u2019s exactly what he\u2019s done. The Air Max 720 \/ OBJ, utilises an all-new upper that deviates entirely from the original, ditching its streamlined simplicity in the process. It embraces a complex composition of underlays and overlays, which is set off by asymmetrical lacing and a varied blend of materials. To top it all off, the new AM720 model makes its debut in an equally wild colourway, nicknamed \u2018Young King of the Drip\u2019. This first release mightn\u2019t be to everybody\u2019s tastes, but for daring to try something different \u2013 and make a whole lot of noise in the process \u2013 we\u2019re giving it our nod as Sneaker of the Week!<\/p>\n
