Whether it\u2019s performance-focused footwear and apparel under the <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/en\/nike\/f\/k\/nikelab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gyakusou<\/a> label or fashion-forward creations under UNDERCOVER, the Japanese designer\u2019s work never fails to excite and invigorate silhouettes, both old and new. His collection of UNDERCOVER-branded React Element 87s were one of the highlights of 2018, so it comes as little surprise that our pick for sneaker of the Week is his latest creation: the UNDERCOVER x <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/en\/sneakers\/f\/b\/nike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nike<\/a> Daybreak.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65093\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.footdistrict.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/magefan\/foot-district-nike-day-break-black.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"795\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65094\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.footdistrict.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/magefan\/foot-district-nike-day-break-blue.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"795\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Daybreak debuted in 1977 as one of Nike\u2019s original waffle-soled runners. It featured classic nylon and suede construction, and a name intended to empower true running diehards \u2013 it was a shoe quite literally Intended for those out pounding the pavement at the crack of dawn. We\u2019ve seen the model sporadically return over the years with retro honours, but it\u2019s hardly been a beacon for collaboration &#8211; until now.<\/p>\n<p>Takahashi\u2019s take on the 42-year-old runner respects the model\u2019s history and impeccable design, while simultaneously updating it to suit modern tastes. But, while the aggressive shark-bite heel cup may be the most eye catching element of the new UNDERCOVER version, it\u2019s far from the only reason these have taken our fancy this week. Both colourways are stunning examples of restraint. They stay true to the suede and nylon combination of the originals, but have been updated with a touch of premium prestige. For some subtle aesthetic enhancement, both versions feature lightly speckled midsoles, branded with the UNDERCOVER name, of course.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019re captivated by the clean combination of blue, black and white or prefer your make-ups minimalist in plain black and white, both versions of the <strong>UNDERCOVER x Nike Daybreak<\/strong> are available right now through Foot District, both <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/en\/nike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online<\/a><\/strong> and in-store.
